Being Organic & Vegan
The approach
To be quality, to be organic, and to be vegan: three indispensable characteristics that each of our wines must have.
What does that mean?
Quality
Azienda Agricola 7 Nardi, the heart of Perlage, directly manages about 20 hectares of vineyards. The rest of the grapes come from more than 40 families in the area who have embraced organic viticulture. Our winemaker Andrea Gallina personally monitors the stage of ripeness of the grapes with periodic visits to the vineyard, and, all grapes delivered are subject to quality testing to ensure the integrity of Perlage products.
Organic
The wine we produce respects from the beginning the norms of organic production: we have always excluded pesticides and synthetic chemistry, using only products of natural origin allowed by the organic specification.
Vegan
In 2012 we began experimentation to produce the world’s first vegan Prosecco – Sgajo Prosecco DOC extra dry. In the winery, all adjuvants of animal origin historically used in clarification such as albumin and casein were excluded. They have been replaced by protein components from the pea plant or yeast. In 2016, given the excellent results of the first trial, all Perlage wines obtained vegan certification.
Biodynamics
Some of our products are based on biodynamic agriculture. Biodynamic agriculture is based on a set of anthroposophical practices theorized by the philosopher Rudolf Steiner and carried on after his death by the Demeter association.
Some of the main practices applied in the biodynamic approach are:

Use of herbal preparations.

Biodiversity.

Respect for lunar cycles.
We have worked our way up by winning this
certification of sustainability before anyone else
A concrete commitment that defines our future.
