Raw Material

the best grapes of the territory

In caring for our vineyards, we pursue the maximum enhancement of native grape varieties, carefully selecting the grape variety based on soil characteristics, moisture levels and sun exposure. Similarly, we select our vintners based on a shared approach that places vineyard care and love for the environment as a priority.
The key grape for us at Perlage is Glera. It comes from an indigenous grape variety, grown in the hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene since the early 1800s, from which Prosecco DOCG is made.

In this area, this vine has found its ideal environment: the right nature and composition of the soils, well-exposed hillsides, abundant and frequent rainfall, consistently mild temperatures between April and October and marked temperature swings during the ripening period. It is a white grape variety, rustic and vigorous, with hazelnut-colored shoots and rather large, long bunches with beautiful golden yellow berries. Extra Brut, Brut, Extra Dry and Dry versions are made from it using the Martinotti-Charmat Method, and it can be recognized by its straw-yellow color, moderate body, and fruity and floral bouquet. Prosecco di Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG wine is produced only in the Treviso area, in a delimited zone between the municipalities of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene.

Transformation

research and innovation

Since its origins thanks to Claudio, Dino and Ivo Nardi, our company has been a pioneer in the research and development of new methodologies aimed at improving every stage of the production process. In 1985 we were the first to experiment with organic viticulture, and from then on, we have tirelessly dedicated ourselves to research and innovation in viticulture. Among the successes achieved in these years are the first Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG without sulfites, the vegan certification obtained by the entire range of Perlage products, the reduction of sulfites used, the first biodynamic Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, and the world’s first classic method made from Incrocio Manzoni grapes sparkling in Conegliano Valdobbiadene.

good wines, of course

As in the care of the vineyards, also in the winery activities, from vinification to sparkling, we take care of the raw material in order to enhance its natural characteristics. Oenologist Andrea Gallina has been the craftsman behind Perlage wines for more than twenty years and masterfully takes care of every step to transform the grapes into elegant, fine and pleasant wines, a natural expression of our terroir.
The passion and care that come to life in Andrea’s hands are also evidenced by his appointment as a Knight of Valdobbiadene and his active participation within the Confraternity of Valdobbiadene.
